(Milton, FL – July 3, 2010) — Tonight was the Mid-Season Championships at Southern Raceway at Milton, FL. No heat races were run and all features were 25 laps, lined up by points.
Dean Shaw led the Hobby field to their Mid-Season Championship green with Kevin Jernigan on the outside of the front row. With the drop of the green flag it was Jernigan to the lead from the outside while Tim Fowler locked in battle with Shaw for the second spot. By lap three Shaw was secure in second with Fowler settling in at third. Lap four saw Tim McCurdy move into fourth over Dale Bush. Caution flew on lap eight when Shane Haynes turned it around in four. Jernigan leads the field back to green with Shaw at second and Fowler third. McCurdy runs fourth with Bush fifth. Jernigan continues to hold the lead while Fowler challenges Shaw door to door. Caution flies when Haynes goes around on the front straight, collecting another car and bringing out the red. Again Jernigan brought the field around with Shaw at second.
Again Fowler looks outside as he and Shaw battle side by side for second before caution flew for debris in turn four on lap ten. Fowler headed up pit road as the field run under yellow, moving McCurdy moves up into third. Shaw holds second behind Jernigan as McCurdy challenges for second, briefly holding the spot before Shaw reclaimed it. Jernigan ran to a straight away advantage at the checkered flag with Shaw taking second and McCurdy third.

John Melton brought the Open-Wheel Modifieds to green with Ryan Fowler outside. Fowler left the track before the green in a trail of smoke shifting Mike Ladner to the outside front row. Ladner took the point into one with Cole Griffith looking for second from Melton taking the spot on the first lap. Leb Morris followed suit into third. Melton Runs fourth with Doug Rogers into fifth from a tail end start. Caution waved on lap four when Billy Copple came, e to a stop low in four. Ladner led back to green, holding the first spot.
Caution waved before the lap was complete with Melton, Nathan Ingersoll and Shawn Pitts tangling in turn four. Ladner again showed the way back to green with Griffith second and Morris holding third. Lap five saw Griffith and Morris swapping some paint on the front straight as Morris pulled into second behind Ladner. Caution flew on lap ten when Copple came to a stop high in turn two. Ladner remains the leader with Morris at second and Griffith third.
On the restart Rogers pulled inside Griffith to third. Griffith pitted with a flat tire. Caution waved on lap nineteen when Pitts spun in front if Ladner through turn four. Ladner leads Morris with Rogers at third. Ingersoll runs fourth with Bo Bailey fifth. Morris and Rogers make contact on the restart, with Rogers losing third to Ingersoll while Lander runs out front. Rogers regains third on lap twenty-two. Ladner leads to the checkers with Morris taking second and Rogers third.

Chris Bayhi brought the Vintage field to green with Aaron Buscavage on the outside of the front row. With green in the air it was no surprise to see Bayhi pull out in the lead as Buscavage runs second. By lap two John Cody had moved into the third spot. Caution flew at lap twelve for Cody stopped on pit road. Bayhi again led the way with Buscavage second and Randy Morris third. Morris moves in to second as green flag racing resumes while Bayhi remains out front. Bayhi claimed the win with Morris second and Buscavage third.

David Windham led the Street Stock Mid-Season Championship race to green with Bo Slay outside. Slay broke on the pace lap and headed up pit road, moving Bo Bailey to the outside front row. As the race went under green it was Windham out ahead of Bailey while Ryan Fowler hunted third from Branden Harris.
Lap four saw Harris closed to Bailey looking for second while Windham was checking out in the lead. Contact between Bailey and Harris in turn four opened the door for Fowler to advance into second while Bailey took up the chase at third. Mike Land moved to fourth while Harris settled in at fifth. Caution waved on lap twenty-four when Bailey great run ended with smoke from under the hood as he stopped on the front straight. Windham led Fowler to the single lap run to the finish with Lane at third. Harris runs fourth with Bryan Hardy fifth. Windham held the lead for the win with Fowler crossing second and Harris taking third when Lane ran high in two. The purse increased compliments of Ryan Fowler and Ryan Fowler Racecars.

Jason Phillips sat on the pole for the Late Model feature race with Steven Jernigan outside. As green flew it was Phillips into the lead as Roger Pack moved to second as lap one closed. Into turn two Jernigan got into Pack, running him up the track with Pack coming to a stop and caution waving. Phillips holds the lead with Joseph Joiner into second and Jernigan at third. Phillips retained the lead on the restart as Jernigan filed into second and Randy Polk charged up into third, shuffling Joiner back to fourth. Caution waved on lap eleven when John Jordan stopped low out of two. Phillips led back to the green, holding the lead while Polk takes second away from Jernigan. Phillips led to the win with Polk second and Jernigan third.

William Arnett brought the Bomber to the green with Levi Donaldson on his outside. As green waved it was Arnett out front as Donaldson moved to the lead before red flew for a couple cars getting together on the front straight. Donaldson brought the field to green, with Arnett at second and Terry Mayhair third. Back under green it was Donaldson out front as Mayhair ran to second while Greg Burton moved to third. Burton got sideways in two and a tap from Arnett sent him low and out of third. Arnett moved into third.
Caution flew on lap four when Jason Barnes came to a stop in two. Back under green Arnett pulled back to second over Mayhair as Donaldson remained out front. Caution waved again on lap seven when Daniel Hayes and Kyle Kirlkand went around separately. Donaldson brought the field back to green, holding onto the lead as Arnett and Mayhair battled for second with Mayhair taking the spot. Caution flew on lap ten when 31 spun in one.
Again Donaldson led the field to green and he second place battle continued as Arnett took the spot into turn one. Lap twelve saw Burton pull past Mayhair into third. Caution waved on lap sixteen when Kirkland went around in four. Donaldson brought the field back to green with Arnett second and Burton at third. Mayhair runs at fourth with William Goulet fifth. There were no changes up front as green flag racing resumed. Caution flew on lap twenty-one when Kirkland, after being black flagged, got sideways on the back straight in front of the leaders. Donaldson brought the field to green with Arnett second and Mayhair third. Kirkland was blackflagged for turning himself around in front of the leaders. Donaldson led to the checkered flag with Arnett second and Mayhair third.

John Upshaw showed the way to green for the Stinger main event with Harry Beatty on his outside. When the green came out it was Upshaw leading Beatty with Bob Tarrant at third. Caution flew on lap two when 49 stopped high in three. Upshaw brought the field back to green with Robert Garrett running second and Beatty at third. Upshaw continues to lead as the field goes back under green. Garrett runs second with Dylan Kersey moving into third at lap four.
By lap five Kenneth Clemmons had climbed to fourth from a tail end start. Lap seven saw Clemmons continue his march to the front taking third from Kersey. The next circuit saw second fall to Clemmons until caution flew on lap nine when Brandon Pursley went around in three. Upshaw leads Clemmons with Garrett third. Kersey runs fourth with Beatty at fifth. Clemmons pulled inside Upshaw on the restart as he, Upshaw and Garrett ran as a three way battle for the lead through turn one as Clemmons emerged from two as the leader with Upshaw second and Grrett at third.
Lap thirteen saw Kersey pull past Garrett into third. Caution flew on lap fifteen when Pursley went around in one with a little help. Clemmons brought the field to green and rocket back out in the lead. Lap sixteen saw Kersey move to second over Upshaw. As the laps wore away, the battle was over third with Garrett looking for position on Upshaw. Clemmons claimed the win with Kersey second and Upshaw taking third.

Next Saturday night will be a full schedule of racing action to include Late Model, Hobby, Open-Wheel Modifieds, Street Stock, Vintage, Bomber and Stinger. The program will include the third of six Bud Lite Bomber Brawl races plus the rescheduled FIREWORKS BLAST known as one of the best aerial fireworks displays in the Florida Panhandle area!
