Veterans Rising to the Top of FAST 305 Title Hunt
MAUMEE, OH (6-2-10) by Scott Porter – FAST Public Relations
With just two races in the books so far for the Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) 305 Championship Series presented by Kear’s Speed Shop and Cleveland Golf, it is already easy to see the ingredients of a heated points battle down to the last lap of the last event. With $1,000 cash, $500 All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads gift certificate and a new Triple-X Chassis on the line for the inaugural series crown, the veterans of the ultra-competitive 305 sprint car division are rising to the top of the championship standings. Currently Bobby Clark holds a slim lead over opening week FAST 305 feature winners Stuart Brubaker and Paul Weaver, while John Ivy and Josh Muntz round out the top-5, which are only separated by a total of 38-points.
After two weeks off, the action heats up this weekend for the mini-series at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 4th and Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 5th. With this weekend being the only FAST 305 events during the month of June, race teams will have to be on their game in order to position themselves within striking distance.
Only 10-point events make-up the FAST 305 Championship Series schedule, which means consistency will be crucial in order to take of the crown with no room for an off-night. Bobby Clark used a pair on runner up finishes to grab the early lead, but consecutive top-5s were also tallied by Brubaker (3rd at Attica, 1st at Fremont) and Ivy (5th at both Attica & Fremont). Paul Weaver lead the standings after collecting the inaugural FAST 305 feature win at Attica, but after being collected in an early racing incident at Fremont the driver of the Genzman Racing Enterprises #1W was sent to the tail for the restart of the feature. The defending Attica Raceway Park Track Champion was able to charge back to a 7th place finish to keep his title hopes alive.
Adding to the excitement of the inaugural season is the Kear’s Speed Shop 305 Challenge FAST Cash Bonus. Drivers who finish in the top-3 of a FAST 305 feature and who are running the “Kears Speed Shop 305 Challenge” decal are eligible to win a quick $100 cash courtesy of Shirley Kear if their finishing position is drawn by the feature winner in victory lane. Taking the opening weekend honors were Bobby Clark at Attica & Josh Muntz at Fremont. In the event of a rain out or if the driver isn’t displaying the correct decal the bonus money will be put back into the season ending points fund to be handed out at season’s end.
