Successful Weekend Of Promotion For NwFL Modified Compact Trucks

With appearances at Five Flags Speedway and Southern Raceway this weekend, the Northwest Florida Modified Compact Trucks gained valuable exposure along and likely several more people putting a Modified Compact Truck on their to-do list.

Friday Night Denny Argabrite and Bob Smith visited Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida for a little bit of promotional work. The response was more than anticipated as a lot of people not only looked at Argabrite’s #1 DNA Motorsports Chevrolet S-10, but wanted details, rules, and more information about how to become involved.

“It was good to see the pleasantly surprised looks when people found out how affordable the class can be.” Said Smith, NwFL Modified Compact Trucks organizer. “They’d guess at the cost and were amazed to find that they were guessing almost twice the amount.”

On Saturday, four of the NwFL Modified Compact Trucks showed up at Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida. A hot lap session was given before heat races during the regular hot lap period for all of the classes, and then again during intermission. Trey Davies (15), Dwayne Hardy (18) and Robby Walters (13) got some needed seat time while being able to display the trucks to the fans in attendance.

Argabrite once again had his truck on display and the interest remained high throughout the night. Many copies of the rules were taken and as the night before, several people indicated that they were going to get busy putting themselves together a truck.

A good season of growth is anticipated for the series. Currently there are two speedways on the limited 2010 schedule – Southern Raceway at Milton, FL and Northwest Florida Speedway at Blackman, FL. As the truck count grows, more races are very likely to be added, to include dirt and possibly asphalt venues. Additions to the schedule are not likely before June to give the division a chance to grow.

“I want to offer a tremendous thank you to Tim Bryant at Five Flags Speedway and Billy Hoover at Southern Raceway.” Say’s Smith. “The chance for exposure that they gave us will go a long way towards making the NwFL Modified Compact Trucks an overwhelming success!”

Next Saturday Night (April 17) the NwFL Modified Compact Trucks will roll out for their inaugural race at Southern Raceway and then the next scheduled event will be on Friday Night, May 7th, and Northwest Florida Speedway.

The NwFL Modified Compact Trucks are compact pickup trucks such as the Chevy S-10 and Ford Ranger. Engine rules allow for a stock 4 or 6 cylinder engine up to a maximum of 4.3L. The full rules can be found on the NwFL Modified Compact Truck website located at www.panhandleracing.com/ct.
