Arnett Crosses Second and claims Bud Lite Bomber Brawl at Southern Raceway

Jacob Boughton took the checkers at the point for the first of six Bud Lite Bomber Brawl races at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL but when it was all over it was William Arnett bringing home the victory. Boughton was disqualified in post race tech inspection for having an aluminum intake, passing the win the Arnett. The Bud Lite Bomber Brawl is a six race series at Southern Raceway with $500 to with winner of each race and a huge trophy.
Bo Slay dominated the second half of the Street Stock feature race to pass under the flag stand in first for the win, however post race tech turned up suspension issues that resulted in Slay’s disqualification and passed the win to Cory Butler. Kevin Jernigan was back in winning form, leading all laps for the Hobby feature. Ryan Fowler backed up last week’s win in Open-Wheel Modified action with another first place finish as did Stuart Wilson in the Vintage division and Jason Phillips in Late Models. April Ray picked up her second win of the season in the Stinger division tonight as well.
Greg Burton led the first Bomber Bash to the green with Levi Donaldson on the outside front row. With the drop of the green it was Donaldson rocketing to the lead. In turn two Burton got sideways, collecting 20, 4, 33 and 61 as caution flew. Coming back to green Donaldson led Steven Fretwell and William Arnett. Arnett secured second with Donald Hardy third. Caution flew on lap eight when Kevin Fetcher went around on the front straight. Donaldson continues to lead Arnett. Hardy runs third with Al Hardy fourth and JR Benton fifth. Back under green it was Donaldson out front as Benton moved up into third. D. Hardy slowed in two then pitted at lap ten shuffling Jacob Boughton into fifth. Lap after lap Hardy and Boughton battled for the fourth spot with Boughton taking it over on lap sixteen. Caution waved on lap seventeen when Fletcher went around on the back straight. Donaldson continues to lead Arnett with Benton third, Boughton fourth and A. Hardy fifth. Caution flew again at lap eighteen when Randy Pack turned A. Hardy around in one. A chain reaction collected some half dozen cars. Donaldson remains at the point with Arnett second and Benton third. Arnett digs for the lead at lap nineteen while Boughton hunts for third, The first segment ended with Donaldson leading Arnett followed by Benton. A random invert put Boughton on the point for the final six laps. Arnett second, Donaldson third, Benton fourth, Hardy fifth and Fox sixth. Fox raced his way into the feature by winning the consolation race. Boughton took the lead until Benton and Hardy got together in three at lap twenty-one for caution. Boughton brought the field to green with five laps remaining, Arnett looks inside Boughthton with two to goe as Donaldson moves into the mix. At the checkers, it was Boughton taking the win over Arnett. Donaldson took third and Fox fourth. Boughton was disqualified for having an aluminum intake in post race tech, moving Arnett to the winners spot.

Ramond Ray brought the Street Stock feature to green with Howie Reeves outside. As green flew it was Reeves into the lead as David Windham run inside Ray to move into second through three and four. Lap two saw Bo Slay climb to third. Caution flew at lap six when Calvin Cook turned Bo Bailey around in two. Cook took the black flag for the encounter. Reeves leads Bo Slay to the restart Windham third. Brandon Kilpatrick holds fourth with Ray at fifth. Back under green it was Windham taking to the high line to run past Slay into second as Reeves remains out front. Slay dug back to second before red flew when Bailey turned Matt Jordan around. In the turmoil, Preston Porter collected Ryan Fowler in turn four at lap nine. Bailey received the black flag. Reeves brought the field back to green, with Slay second and Windham third. Windham run high into one, slipping back to sixth as Slay challenged for the lead. At the line Slay held the point over Reeves with Kilpatrick third. Caution flew on lap nine when Matt Jordan got into Kenny Tarter. Jordan took the black flag. Slay leads the field back to green with Reeves third and Kilpatrick third. Reeves runs low and loose in one allowing Kilpatrick to move into second with Corey Butler third. Caution waved on lap fourteen Tyler Blakley came to a stop in four. With five to go Butler runs second with Kilpatrick hunting close behind in third. Slay took the win with Butler claiming second over Kilpatrick. Slay was disqualified in tech for suspension issues.

Kevin Jernigan brought the Hobby field to green inside Robby Messer. Jernigan took the lead with Messer at second and 21 third. Lap four saw Carl Wilkerson move past 21 into third. Jernigan dominated to the checkers with Messer second and Wilkerson third.

Joe Phillips brought the open-wheel modifieds to green with Ryan Fowler on the outside. As green waved it was Fowler into the lead. Phillips pushed up the track in one as John Melton moved to second and Shawn Pitts third. Caution flew on lap one when Pop Booker slowed in four. Cole Griffith pulled to second into three until contact between Griffith and Phillips sent Griffith around and stacked up three more cars in turn three. Fowler again led the field to green with Melton second and Jason Douglas third. On the third lap one restart, Pitts pulled to third. Fowler remains out front with Melton second. Caution flew again on lap five when Pitts suffered mechanical problems into one. Melton, with nowhere to go, ran down the side of Pitts, and continued going. Fowler leads for the restart with Melton second and Douglas outside at third. By lap seven Fowler and Melton had broken away while Douglas runs at third. Fowler took a slim win over a hard-charging Melton with Douglas third.

Stuart Wilson brought the Vintage to green with Chris Carnley outside. With green waving it was Wilson out front with Carnley second and Bill Blum third. Lap two saw Kylan Nathey pull to third over Blum as Wilson set the pace out in front of Carnley. Lap fifteen saw Nathey move to second over Carnley. Carnley spun and continued as Blum shuffled up to third. Wilson led to the win with Nathey second and Blum third.

Jason Phillips led Roger Pack to green for the Late Model feature race. As green waved it was a duel between Phillips and Pack for the point with Phillip ending up at the front. Joseph Joiner runs at the third spot. Caution flew on lap three when David Seffens turned Todd Jones in two. Phillips brought the field back to green holding onto the point. Lat five saw James Ussery move into second as Pack shuffled back to fourth. Joiner remains at third. Caution flew on lap eight when Stevie Blanchette spun in turn four. Phillips remains at the point for the restart with Ussery second and Joiner third. Pack holds fourth with Scott Sessions fifth. On the restart Joiner moved to second to challenge Phillips for the lead. Phillips continued to hold the point. Caution flew on lap thirteen when Blanchette spun in four. Blanchett was black flagged for two unassisted spins. On the restart Steven Jernigan turned Sessions around into one and caution flew again. Caution waved on lap fourteen when Sessions went around in three, collecting Jernigan. Caution again waved on lap fifteen when Ray Robbins spun in two. Phillips remains at the point with Ussery second and Joiner third. Caution flew on the restart when four cars tangled in two. Phillips leads Ussery back to green with Joiner third. Phillips led Ussery to the checkers with Joiner third.

Bob Tarrant showed the way to green in the Stingers with Jeff Ladue outside at second. As the race went under green it was April Ray taking the lead but as lap one ended it was Kody Cook at the point. Caution waved on lap two for cars in turn three. Cook pitted under yellow passing the lead back to Ray. Tarrant runs second with Ladue at third. Back under green Ray continues to hold the lead as Ladue moves to second over Tarrant. Caution waved on lap nine when 20h spun high in four. Ray brought the field back to green, holding onto the lead as Tarrant reclaimed second from Ladue. Caution waved on lap eleven when Josh Hoffman slowed to a stop on pit road. Ray again led to green, until Logan Lindsey got together with another car, hopped wheels, and turned over in four as red came over the speedway at lap twelve. Ray brought the field back to the green flag for the restart. On the restart Ladue runs outside to challenge for the lead into turn two. Lap after lap Ray an Ladue run side-by-side until Ray holds the lead secure and Tarrant retakes second. Caution flew on fifteen when Samantha Rast came to a stop on pit road. Back under green Ladue moves back towards second until caution flew when Tommy Lowery hit the wall on the front straight. Ray brought the field back to green for a green-white-checker run. Ladue restarts second and Tarrant third. At the white flag Ladue has his hands full of Tarrant but hangs on. Ray took the win with Ladue second and Tarrant third.
