NwFL Modified Compact Truck Season Set To Kick Off April 17 at Southern Raceway

(Crestview, FL Mar 18, 2010) — The Northwest Florida Modified Compact Trucks will take to the track on April 17th at Southern Raceway, in Milton FL,  to kick off their 2010 racing season!

A year in the making, this will be the first race for the Compact Trucks.

Only one driver, Robby Walters of Pace, FL has any substantial seat time in the trucks. While others were debating on getting involved or slowly working around a sagging economy to get theirs going, Walters was slinging dirt at Northwest Florida Speedway.

With a single truck fielded, Walters ran with the Stinger division where he claimed second overall in points for the season while gaining valuable insight regarding the truck.

Others such as Bob Smith of Crestview, FL , Denny Argabrite of Cantonment, FL and Jeremy Foster from Robertsdale, AL  bring a varied background from both dirt and asphalt racing. Still others such as DeFuniak Springs driver Trey Davies and  Pace, Florida’s Dwayne Hardy jump in for their first racing experience.

With the lack of seat time for most of the drivers in the division, it promises to be a
memorable race when the trucks  do rumble out onto the quick 3/8 mile speedway.

The Compact Trucks are 4 or 6 cylinder pickups with an engine up to a maximum of 4.3L (262ci). Full rules can be found on the Modified Compact Trucks website.

“This promises to be an exciting class of racing in the Northwest Florida area.” Says Bob Smith, division organizer. “There’s so many unknowns with these new trucks, I’d bet you can expect the unexpected”.

With the season starting at Southern Raceway in April, the trucks will make their first full appearance at the epicenter of the division, Northwest Florida Speedway, at their Season Opener on May 7th.
