(CRESTVIEW, FL – Oct 22, 2009) — Southern Raceway at Milton, Florida has announced that they will be conducting a huge fall weekend of racing November 12, 13 and 14 with the 1st Annual Southern Raceway Topless 50 for Late Models.
Topping the list of race events will be the 1st Annual Southern Raceway Topless 50 for the Late Models. This will be a 50-lap main event with $5000 to win waiting beyond the checkers. Also on the card will be all regular divisions, each a $1000-to-win!
Thursday Nov 12 will be open practice from 5pm until 8:30pm .
Friday night, Nov 13, will see Late Model qualifying with the top two qualifiers locked into the main event. The remainder of the 22-car full field will be filled through heat races with the track reserving the option of two provisional starts.
Hobby, Modified, Street Stock, Vintage, Stinger and Bomber will run heat races with Bomber and Stinger divisions running feature races as well.
Saturday’s headline will be the first running of the Southern Raceway Topless 50! Fans will get the rare opportunity to see into the Late Model’s and watch as the drivers wrestle their rockets around the quick three-eighth mile dirt speedway for 50 laps. A Last Chance race will be run for the Late Models if there is a need as well.
In regular division racing, Saturday’s show will include heats and features for all divisions. The Saturday Night features will be $1000-to-win events for all divisions.
With the point season over, drivers in all of the classes will be able to lose the “point racing” mentality and get down to business; to win! Excitement is certain to abound at the final racing event for 2009 at the Milton, Florida speedplant and it will definitely be a show you won’t want to miss!
Grandstand admission will be $7.00 on Friday night and $12.00 Saturday. Practice on the 12th will be free admission to the grandstands for those that would like to watch. Car entry fees will be $20.00 for regular division $1000-to-win races and the Late Model entry fee is set at $125.00
Gates will open Friday at 5pm with racing getting underway at 7pm. Saturday the gates will open at 4pm with racing slated to begin at 6pm.
For anyone interested in camping, primitive camping spots will also be available.
The Late Model tire rule will be Hoosier 21/55, 1350 Spec only – No Economy Tires. The weight rule for Late Models is set at 2200 lbs for crate engines, 2300 for spec engines and 2400 for open.
